INVESTING AT QUFU
Geography and Nature
Location: Located in the southwest ,Qufu is one of the three metropolises in Shandong Province ,with the population of 640 thousand,14 townships and regions are under the jurisdiction of Qufu ,covering the areas of 896 square km .
Natural environment: Qufu belongs to the temperate zone with monsoon continental climate, 73% of the areas is plain, hills and mountains accounting for 27%.Annual precipitation is 1,394mm averagely ,frost-free periods about 290 days ,average temperature 18.1 C.There are 14 rivers and brooks across Qufu, water resource is rich.There are a lot of coals ,limestone ,chamotte ,phosphorus ore ,marble & granite ,geothermy ,mineral water and sands .Coal storage capacity is approximately 2 billion tons ,and limestone is 2.66 billion tons.
Economic Overview
Qufu is the transition of the two major economic zones to the North and East China ,Yangtze River Delta to the south ,Beijing-Tianjing and Tanggu Economic Zone to the north ,it is located to the eastern coastal areas and center of western inland ,bordering Jiangsu, Henan and Anhui Province .Take Qufu as the center ,within a radius of 500 km ,there are Beijing , Tianjing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan, Qingdao, Xi’an, Taiyuan, Hefei, Shijiazhuang and Zhengzhou, with the population of more than 600 millions .Within a radius of 200 km, there are over 120 million populations and broad market space. Average GDP per person surpassed 3，300 US dollars annually. In the economic competition ability, Qufu has entered into the ranks of the National 100 most advanced counties. In 2005 Qufu obtained the 4th of the most investment potential city among the 50 medium and small-scale ones and was chosen the Chinese characteristic charming town among 200 cities in China.
Historical cultures
In five or six thousand years ago, the descendants of Cathay and East Yi lived and procreated on this land. They created the early civilization of human race. Qufu is the birthplace of Yellow Emperor, Confucius, Mencius, Lu Ban and other important historic celebrities. Yan Emperor and Shaohao moved to Qufu as their capitals. In history five sages conferred by feudal dynasties once lived here. Qufu is the cradle of Chinese culture, birthplace of Confucian school and sacred garden of Chinese descendants. Three hundred historical sites have been found at present,113 of them are of importance. Confucius Temple, Confucius Mansion and Confucius Cemetery have been listed by the UNESCO’s Records of the World’s Culture and Natural Heritages. Confucius philosophical idealogicals of cultivating yourself, putting your family in order, running the local government well, and bringing peace to the entire country, precious harmony, and the benevolent loving benevolence have exerted an enormous influence on the world community, and these are also the fundamental ideals to build up a harmonious society ,an international political and new economical order. Confucius Educational Award was set up and proved by UN in 2006.
Resources of Agriculture
There are 15 sorts of grains in variety, such as wheat, maize, jowar, millet, green bean, sweet potato, soya bean and rice, the cash crops are cotton, peanut and sesame. Forty kinds of vegetables and fruits are grown, there are more than 200 thousand mu of fruit trees and 29 kinds in variety, such as apple, pear, apricot, cherry, Chinese date and hawthorn etc. Animal husbandry are cattle , goats and sheep, aquatic animals, like fish, shrimp and mollusk. Fragrant rice, apricot and mineral water are reputed “Qufu three treasures” and Confucius liquor, wooden carved Ruyi, woolen carpet and dragon-head walking stick are famous for “five unique feat of center Shandong”.
Trade and Tourism
Qufu is the world renowned tourist city. Confucius Temple, Confucius Mansion and Confucius Cemetery are listed in the world’s cultural heritage. Lu State, Yanhui Temple, Shaohao Tomb , Confucius birthplace of Nishan Hill and Jiulong Mountain Tombs are protected by the state, we also have state-level forest garden at Shimen Mountain. Qufu was selected 5A scenery spot in 2006.Last year over 4.6 million tourists visited Qufu, the tourist revenue was 1.2 billion Yuan. Qufu international Confucius Cultural Festival is ranked the top of the Ten National Tourist Festivals in China. There are 3,110 shops and 89,100 employees, the Confucius Trade Fair covers the areas of 400,000 square metres.110 enterprises are entered in the bonded zone at Qufu Customhouse, it becomes the goods transportation center in southwest Shandong area.
